The
Chinese translation of the word "Gung Fu" or as it is known
in the west Kung Fu is hard work, or a skill aquired over a lengthy time.
Kung Fu uses simplicity, body mechanics and "soft" energy rather
than physical strength to respond to the attack. This training gives ability
to defend sucessfully against a larger and stronger opponent. Every individual
has the potential to succeed in Kung Fu regardless of their abilities
or lack of.
At the Eastern Arts and Holistic Health Academy we
strive to “internalize” the arts of Kung Fu as they were authentically
taught down to us. Our primary arts are Traditional Wing Chun Kung Fu
and Yang and Chen Style Taijiquan. Kung Fu is more sophisticated than
other martial arts as we make our moves subtle, efficient and direct.
We not only train our bodies and minds but our nervous system as well.
When fear is removed, the arrogance of uncertainty
is dispelled. Therefore, it is no longer necessary to prove yourself in
any form of combat. By learning how to fight, you learn how not to fight.
